Will Smith vs. Janet Hubert

MovieStillsDB
Will (Smith) and Aunt Viv (Hubert) had tremendous chemistry on screen. Though behind the scenes, things weren’t as rosy. Hubert has publicly blasted Smith on several occasions. Things got so bad, that Hubert left The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. I have to admit…it was a bit strange seeing a ‘new’ Aunt Viv (Daphne Maxwell Reid) chumming it up with Uncle Phil (James Avery).
Shia LaBeouf vs. Tom Hardy

MovieStillsDB
Hardy is known to be an intense guy, and LaBeouf is anything but conventional. As such, it wasn’t a complete surprise to see the two get involved in a bit of a skirmish on the set of Lawless. Intoxicated on moonshine, LaBeouf reportedly knocked Hardy out cold. Though Hardy routinely plays scary characters, LaBeouf proved not to be intimidated.
Kevin Smith vs. Bruce Willis

MovieStillsDB
Smith directed Willis in the 2010 film Cop Out. However, ‘directed’ is a loose term — as the two constantly got involved in verbal spats. A very jaded Smith appeared on Marc Maron’s podcast after the film had concluded. He had this to say about his experience working with Willis:
“It was difficult. I’ve never been involved in a situation like that where, one component is not in the box at all. It was f****** soul crushing. I mean, a lot of people are gonna be like, ‘Oh, you’re just trying to blame the movie on him.’ No, but I had no f****** help from this dude whatsoever.”
Tommy Lee Jones vs. Jim Carrey

MovieStillsDB
As one recalls, the two co-starred in the 1996 blockbuster Batman Forever. While Jones holds more of a serious persona, Carrey is eccentric — to say the least. Jones reportedly hated working with Carrey on set. Knowing this, Carrey wasn’t shy about awkwardly approaching Jones one random night while he was eating dinner. According to Carrey, Jones vocalized his distaste for Carrey right to his face.
Debra Winger vs. Shirley MacLaine

MovieStillsDB
Though MacLaine played Winger’s mother in the iconic film Terms of Endearment, the two allegedly did not get along. MacLaine detailed this in a memoir she wrote about her life in entertainment. During filming, Winger allegedly lifted her skirt and farted in MacLaine’s face over a disagreement with placement marks.
Kim Cattrall vs. Sarah Jessica Parker

MovieStillsDB
The former Sex in the City co-stars have widely been known to not like each other. Tabloids have constantly been documenting issues between the two. There are even long-winded articles breaking down timelines between Cattrall and SJP — and where the discontentment originated. Cattrall was critical of SJP in a recent interview with Piers Morgan:
“This is really where I take to task the people from Sex and the City and specifically Sarah Jessica Parker in that I think she could have been nicer. I really think she could have been nicer. I don’t know what her issue is, I never have.”
Harrison Ford vs. Josh Hartnett

MovieStillsDB
The Hollywood Homicide duo reportedly were not fond of one another. Whether it was the age gap or differences in culture, Hartnett and Ford reportedly bickered constantly when doing press for the film. It got to a point on-set when Ford would reportedly shut out Hartnett completely. However, when you’re Han Solo/Indiana Jones, you’re able to be selective with your friends.
Claire Danes vs. Leonardo DiCaprio

MovieStillsDB
According to multiple reports, Danes was not fond of DiCaprio’s incessant pranks on the set of Romeo and Juliet. DiCaprio would often joke around with the cast and crew members. When trying to focus on her role as Juliet, Danes would be distracted. This would cause her to get angry. Though they were lovers on camera, it certainly didn’t appear to be the case off of it.
Ryan Gosling vs. Rachel McAdams

MovieStillsDB
The Notebook is one of the most revered romantic films ever made. As such, it may pain some to hear that Gosling and McAdams weren’t exactly on the best of terms. It’s ironic considering the two did date once the movie finished. However, during filming, director Nick Cassavetes recalls some tension between the two:
“Maybe I’m not supposed to tell this story, but they were really not getting along one day on set. Really not. And Ryan came to me, and there’s 150 people standing in this big scene, and he says, ‘Nick come here.’ He’s doing a scene with Rachel and he says, ‘Would you take her out of here and bring in another actress to read off camera with me?’ ‘I said, ‘What?’ He says, ‘I can’t. I can’t do it with her. I’m just not getting anything from this.’ Later, we went into a room with a producer. They started screaming and yelling at each other.”
Nick Nolte vs. Julia Roberts

MovieStillsDB
Nolte and Roberts were two of the biggest movie stars during the ’90s. The film I Love Trouble starred both of them. Neither is known to be easy to deal with — and this ended up being the case during the filming of this movie. Allegedly, the two had to film scenes separately due to their distaste with one another. When appearing on David Letterman’s late-night talk show, Roberts offered a wild out-of-control impression of an old co-star. This is rumored to be Nolte.
The Women of Beverly Hills, 90210

MovieStillsDB
Jennie Garth, Shannen Doherty, and Tori Spelling all starred on the hit show Beverly Hills, 90210. Though friends on the show, filming behind the scenes didn’t always go as smoothly. Garth wrote a book about her life in Hollywood. She detailed the contentious relationship between the three actresses. It included moments where — according to Garth — the group wanted to claw each other’s eyes out.
Bill Murray vs. Lucy Liu

MovieStillsDB
Liu and Murray worked together on the film Charlie’s Angels. The word ‘worked’ is a loose term — as the two quickly fell out on set. One story even has Murray berating Liu in front of the entire crew over her acting ability. Liu didn’t take too kindly to the alleged verbal bashing. Interestingly enough, Murray’s character was replaced in Charlie’s Angels 2 by the late Bernie Mac.
Nicki Minaj vs. Mariah Carey

Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images
One simple search on YouTube will show you all you need to know. The two were co-hosts on American Idol for a spell. To put it mildly, the duo would butt heads repeatedly on camera. One could sense the tension whenever discussing a potential talent. While entertaining to watch on screen, fellow co-hosts Randy Jackson and Keith Urban certainly looked uncomfortable.
Bea Arthur vs. Betty White
Fans of The Golden Girls will be sad to hear about the rift between Arthur and White. In fact, some are claiming that Arthur viewed White as her nemesis. In an interview with Joy Behar, White had this to say about Arthur:
“She was not that fond of me. She found me a pain in the neck sometimes. It was my positive attitude, and that made Bea mad sometimes. Sometimes if I was happy, she’d be furious!”
David Duchovny vs. Gillian Anderson

MovieStillsDB
Mulder and Scully did not always see eye to eye while filming The X-Files. In fact, there were many times that captured discontent between Anderson and Duchovny. This may have stemmed from the fact Anderson failed to mention Duchovny in her Emmy Award acceptance speech (though Duchovny did mention Anderson in his the year prior). The two didn’t talk for years — though have since rekindled a relationship based upon the show’s revival.
Jennifer Grey vs. Patrick Swayze

MovieStillsDB
The chemistry on camera between Grey and Swayze was undeniable. Dirty Dancing showcased romance to the highest degree. However, Grey and Swayze didn’t always get along. In his memoir, Swayze recalled times in which Grey was difficult to work with — largely stemming from her penchant for being overly emotional as well as silly. However, the two did reconnect and become friends after the filming.
Alyssa Milano vs. Shannen Doherty

MovieStillsDB
Charmed is a very popular cult television show. Doherty and Milano starred on the program for three seasons before Doherty left. Rumors have been swirling for years over the discourse between the two actresses. Each made veiled comments about one another through the media — with Doherty even commenting about the drama on set. In recent years, the two have slowly begun rebuilding their relationship from the past.
Joan Crawford vs. Bette Davis

MovieStillsDB
This is one of the most high-profile feuds when it comes to iconic actors. In fact, Crawford and Davis were recently portrayed in Ryan Murphy’s anthology series Feud starring Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange. Davis and Crawford starred together in the film What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? During this time, the feud was stoked at a crazy level — ultimately reaching its zenith during the film’s publicity tour.
Tisha Campbell vs. Martin Lawrence

Kevin Winter/Getty Images
For nearly 20 years, the former Martin co-stars didn’t speak to one another. During the final season of the show, Campbell accused Lawrence of sexual harassment. She left the show momentarily — though returned to film all scenes (without Lawrence present). In February of 2018, the two were seen on Instagram together. Then, in January 2024, the pair appeared on-screen at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards. It appears as if the rift has been mended.
Melissa Gilbert vs. Melissa Sue Anderson

MovieStillsDB
Despite being sisters on Little House on the Prairie for years, Gilbert and Anderson did not get along. Antagonist Nellie (played by Alison Arngrim) was ironically enough close friends with Gilbert. It’s quite interesting to think about this wholesome show featuring two siblings with real-life distaste for one another.
Isaiah Washington vs. T.R. Knight

MovieStillsDB
The former Grey’s Anatomy co-stars no longer work for the show. Washington was implicated in an alleged verbal altercation with fellow cast member Patrick Dempsey. Washington was alleged to have used a homophobic slur — which then was reportedly used in reference to Knight (who happens to be gay). After multiple public apologies, Washington was fired from the show. Washington adamantly continues to deny using a homophobic slur towards Knight.
Ariana Grande vs. Victoria Justice

MovieStillsDB
Ariana Grande and Victoria Justice both starred together on the Nickelodeon hit show Victorious. Though billed as best friends on the show, the two entertainers did not like each other at all. At one point, the two threw jabs at one another through their Twitter accounts.
Stana Katic vs. Nathan Fillion

MovieStillsDB
The two talented actors starred together on Castle for eight seasons. This isn’t exactly a short amount of time. Still, rumors swirled that Fillion and Katic did not like each other on set. A report from Us even reported that the two wouldn’t speak to each other when they were off-set. The words “despise each other” even appear in the alleged report.
James Franco vs. Anne Hathaway

Michael Caulfield/Getty Images
Remember that time Anne Hathaway and James Franco co-hosted the Oscars? Do you also remember how painfully awkward it was? One source admitted to Us Weekly that the two did not like each other. Even further, Hathaway was alleged to have “phoned it in” whilst being on stage with the fellow superstar.
Selma Blair vs. Charlie Sheen

MovieStillsDB
This one was painful, to say the least. Blair was hired to star with Sheen on the short-lived FX show Anger Management. However, she was unceremoniously fired from the show. Reports alleged that Sheen was behind the move. The Hollywood Reporter even crafted a story in which Sheen allegedly fired Blair via a very profanity-laced text message. Blair couldn’t have been too upset about it, as the show was canceled after two seasons.
Lindsay Lohan vs. America Ferrera

MovieStillsDB
Lindsay Lohan was supposed to guest star on Ugly Betty for six episodes. However, her reported on-set antics cut her time on-screen down to four episodes. Multiple reports spoke of Lohan not getting along with the show’s star America Ferrera. One report even had Lohan trashing her dressing room during her time on the show.
Freddie Prinze Jr. vs. Kiefer Sutherland

MovieStillsDB
This quote from Prinze Jr. just speaks for itself:
“I did 24; it was terrible. I hated every moment of it. Kiefer was the most unprofessional dude in the world. That’s not me talking trash; I’d say it to his face. I think everyone that’s worked with him has said that. I just wanted to quit the business after that. So, I just sort of stopped.”
