Flavor Flav Pays U.S Olympian’s Rent Following Social Media Post

Flavor Flav has once again gone above and beyond the support the USA Olympic team.

Vanderbilt discus thrower Veronica Fraley recently posted on the X platform that despite her being an Olympian, she was struggling to pay the bills at home.

“I compete in the Olympic Games TOMORROW and can’t even pay my rent my school only sent about 75% of my rent while they pay football players (who haven’t won anything) enough to buy new cars and houses,” Fraley said on X. Fraley is from Raleigh, North Carolina, and is a track and field athlete competing in the discus throw. She set a new personal best record in April 2024 and qualified for the Olympics.

Without missing a beat, Flavor Flav responded:

“I gotchu,,, DM me and I’ll send payment TODAY so you don’t have to worry bout it TOMORROW,,, and imma be rooting for ya tomorrow. LETZ GO,!!!,” he said on X.

Flavor Flav wasn’t the only one who stepped up. Reddit co-founder and Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, also followed up with an offer to split the rent with Flavor Flav. “Got you!” he replied, followed by a picture of the confirmation of the $7,760 payment and then writing “‘Murica.”

Flavor Flav traveled to Paris and has been spotted attending Team USA games — especially Water Polo, becoming the de-facto USA hype man. But this isn’t the first time he stepped up to help Team USA. Maggie Steffens, who revealed she was working multiple jobs to support her athletic career, received assistance from him. According to his representative, he said ‘happy to help out those who are representing the best of us. This is exactly why I’m in Paris and the awareness I been trying to bring to these athletes needs.’

Olympians are known for not always being compensated the most, although payments can vary. Team USA pays a bonus of $37,500 for a gold medal, $22,500 for silver, and $15,000 for bronze. Meanwhile, certain countries like Singapore pay athletes upwards of $740,000 per gold medal.

Fraley is set to compete in the Paris Olympics on Friday, August 2nd in Group B.
