Superyachts are perhaps the pinnacle of luxury for some of the richest people on earth. These yachts are equipped with some of the best technology and most relaxing lounges you will ever see, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable trip on the water. In this article, we will look at the most expensive superyachts in the world.
10. Serene ($300 million)
This 439-foot yacht was built by Fincantieri, an Italian shipbuilding group that has locations all over the world. They often build ships for cruise lines, but when Russian billionaire Yuri Scheffler came calling in 2011, there was little refusal. In 2015, the yacht was purchased by Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman, now the Prime Minister and de-facto ruler of Saudi Arabia. This yacht supposedly costs at least $1 million per week to rent and often ships celebrities such as Bill Gates. Does anyone have spare change for a week’s trip? It features some incredible amenities including swimming pools, two helipads, and even an underwater viewing room that comes with a submarine.
9. Al Said ($300 million)
Al Said is owned by the Sultan of Oman. The ship was completed by German shipbuilding company Lurssen in 2007, and at the time it was considered the second longest yacht in the world at 508 feet. The ship can accommodate up to 70 guests and 150 crew members. It comes equipped with a swimming pool, a helipad, entertainment and dining areas, and beautifully designed lounges. Oh, and how could we forget a concert hall that can fit a 50-piece orchestra? In short, this yacht is luxury personified.
8. Radiant ($320 million)
Speaking of Lurssen, almost immediately after the Al Said ship was completed, they got to work on The Radiant. Despite the fact it is not as impressively long as Al Said (360 feet compared to 508 feet), it still is a marvel of luxury. It was designed by famous exterior designer Tim Heywood who had his hand in the luxury yachts business for a long time, building other ships such as the Pelorus, Dilbar, and Al Mirqab. It can fit up to 20 guests (with 10 being luxury cabins) and an additional crew of 44. Guests on this yacht will have no shortage of things to do, as it comes with a beach club, a swimming pool, a helipad, a fully-equipped gym, and a theater. One of the things that set it apart is its use of advanced stabilization systems. In short, this allows the yacht to reach speeds of up to 21 knots while still maintaining comfortability.
7. Dubai ($350 million)
The Dubai is one magnificent vessel. It is owned by the ruler of Dubai Skeikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The builder of the yacht was — you guessed it — Lurssen. The yacht is 531 feet in length and uses that space for a host of things — atriums, VIP sections, guest suites, multiple lounges and dining areas, swimming pools, helipads, a gym, and just about anything else you could think of. The atrium itself is a big standout on this vessel, as it features multiple decks and is a great central hub of the yacht’s interior. The ship has been used for both private and official capacities, but be sure to send us an invite next time.
6. Motor Yacht A ($440 million)
This yacht has a more unconventional design compared to the others. Designer Philippe Starck loved this different approach. After all, he became famous thanks to some avant-garde pieces, so perhaps it doesn’t surprise us. This yacht has a transoceanic range, so it doesn’t need to stop often to refuel. Speaking of refueling, that in itself is an expense — costing upwards of $1,500,000. The yacht is owned by Russian billionaire Andrew Melinchenko and comes with no shortage of things to do for his family, such as swimming pools, tender garages, helipads, and more.
5. Topaz ($530 million)
This superyacht is owned by Sheik Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is the Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates. For those who may be privy to Premier League Football, he is also the owner of Manchester City Football Club. The ship was built by Lurssen and had the exterior design finished by Tim Heywood, with the interior done by Terence Disdale. It is one of the largest private ships in the world coming in at 483 feet to ensure maximum comfort and privacy. The designs are all made from high-end materials and use a mix of modern and classic elements. It comes with helipads, a cinema, gym and a spa, beach club, jacuzzis, and a tender garage that stores jet skis and other types of water toys. Not a bad getaway device for the soccer club owner.
4. Azzam ($600 million)
Shooting up quite dramatically in price from the Topaz comes the Azzam. She is owned by Skeikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan who was the President of the United Arab Emirates up until his death in 2022, and Emir of Abu Dhabi. Since his death, the family currently owns the impressive yacht. It is 590 feet long which makes it the longest private yacht in the world. It is known for being incredibly fast especially considering its size, being able to achieve a top speed of over 30 knots. The interior was done by Christophe Leoni, who used the classic French Empire style which gave it a different twist. Guests who are lucky enough to be invited on this yacht have the luxury of space, salons, lounges, and multiple massive dining areas.
3. Streets of Monaco ($1 billion)
Imagine a yacht that is modeled after the streets of Monaco. Well, the aptly named Streets of Monaco yacht is aiming to do exactly that. The yacht is currently under development and still yet to be completed, therefore it has no owner yet. The design is ambitious, we’ll give them that. The yacht will feature casinos, a hotel modeled after Hotel de Paris, and a fully functional go-kart circuit to emulate the Monaco Grand Prix track. Oh, and who could forget the mini waterfall?
2. Eclipse ($1.5 million)
The Eclipse is well-known to yacht enthusiasts. It was built by Blohm+Voss of Germany and is owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, who formerly owned Premier League team Chelsea Football Club. It measures 536 feet long and comes with custom designs and high-security features. After all, if you’re spending that much on a yacht, you need to make sure it’s secure. It even has camera detectors which shine a light on cameras attempting to take pictures of the boat, giving it an extra layer of security. It comes with multiple swimming pools, 25 bedrooms, a disco hall, and much more.
History Supreme (4.8 billion)
Does this yacht actually exist? It seems like the History Supreme isn’t much more than an urban legend. Nobody has seen it, nor has there been any verifiable photo evidence. It is rumored to be owned by a mysterious Malaysian billionaire and was designed by the late artist Stuart Hughes, who was known for making avant-garde art pieces decked out in gold. She is said to only be 100 feet long, making it relatively modest compared to the other boats on this list. What gives it its hefty price tag is the fact it is designed with other 100,000 kilos of gold and platinum. The master bedroom is said to have a fireplace made of meteorite stone. In short, it’s grotesque luxury. Does it actually exist? Well, until we see it, we’re leaning toward “no”. Still, many sources claim its existence.
