Kendrick Lamar to Headline 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans

‘Not Like Us’ is headed to the Super Bowl.

The Compton-born rapper, who is considered to be one of the greatest current artists in the genre, will be performing at the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans, sponsored by Apple Music. He made the announcement on his official YouTube channel, with a large American flag draped behind him.

Lamar said in a statement, “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.” The NFL released their own promotional poster with Lamar sitting on a football field, all but confirming the decision. Lamar actually already featured in a Super Bowl halftime show in 2022, but that time it was alongside other rap legends such as Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Eminem, and many more.

The confirmation of his performance comes on the back of a feud between Lamar and other popular rapper Drake. The two traded blows via song releases where they would diss each other through the lyrics, culminating in the hit song ‘Not Like Us’, released by Lamar earlier this year. The song debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went on to become one of the hottest releases of the summer. It seems Lamar has claimed victory in the court of public opinion, and the performance may as well be the final nail in the proverbial coffin.

For fans hoping that the announcement of the performance will suggest a new album release, they may be in luck. Last year’s performer, Usher, released his album the weekend before the performance. Regardless, the seventeen-time Grammy Award winner will be gracing the NFL field on his own accord, and thanks to his own successes and triumphs in the industry. He will be doing the NFL a favor, not the other way around.
