4 Travel Vloggers You Should Follow

Travel vloggers have become all the rage in recent years. For those who can’t travel — whether due to cost, circumstance, or any other situation, you can live vicariously through those who film their adventures via the platform of YouTube. Most of the channels have different feels to some, as some may focus on food or a specific region in the world. In this case, the four vloggers some of the more interesting and unique ones to follow.

Bald and Bankrupt

Bald and Bankrupt — also known as Benjamin Rich-Swift — is a British vlogger who’s made a name for himself as someone who traverses across the old Soviet Union. Reportedly fascinated with the old empire as a while in Britain, he learned how to speak Russian which benefits him greatly as he travels through old provincial towns, connecting with older locals and those who are a bit rough around the edges. He also lived in India for years operating a hotel — which led him to film extensive amounts of videos throughout that country as well.

Bald (as he refers to himself as) is a true character. He’s gotten himself into a few sticky situations. However, he’s quite adventurous, and some of his videos are very good. Among his stops include Peru, Venezuela, Mauritania, all across the old Soviet Union, much of Southeast Asia, and other parts of the African continent. (youtube.com/@baldandbankrupt)

Sabbatical

Sabbatical, also known as Tommy, is a 30-something traveler from New York. He spent a long time living in China — thus speaks fluent Mandarin. This helps him on his travels all over the world. He’s a bit of a linguist, and as such picks up languages quite easily. Whether in a sketchy drug den in Argentina, in the middle of nowhere in Uganda, or bustling St. Petersburg, Russia, Tommy can communicate at an elementary level impressively enough. Many of his travels are aimed at places off the beaten path. He’s also quite educational, offering historical backgrounds on many of the sights he films. His travels, as documented on his channel, have taken him to five continents. (youtube.com/@SabbaticalTommy)

German in Venice

German in Venice, a man named Mike, is someone you’ll be endeared to immediately. He’s not the most polished vlogger in terms of production. He’s also not as informative as others in the same space. With that said, he makes up for it as being his true, authentic self. He films things that he finds highly amusing and interesting. Originally from the western German city of Krefeld, he moved to Los Angeles in his 20s to get into the entertainment industry. Setting in Venice, he operated a henna tattoo shop on the Venice boardwalk for decades. A fantastic artist, he’s since transitioned full-time to showcasing Los Angeles and everything it has to offer — from celebrity entertainment conventions to the homeless crisis throughout the city.

A minor celebrity in LA, you can often see him puttering around on his mini bike with a baseball cap on and his iconic golden brown hair flowing in the wind. His recent video series all over Europe, which features his dear mother, is some of his best stuff. (youtube.com/@germaninvenice)

Simon Wilson

Simon Wilson is a Welsh YouTuber who often collaborates with Bald and Bankrupt. Wilson’s channel is unique from the standpoint that he films crazy travel challenges. Sometimes, he’ll go to a city and try to get by in 48 hours without any money. One series had him fly to each of the seven continents in seven days. Other ones involved hitchhiking across the United States. His jovial personality makes him fun to watch, and he’s another person who’s truly traveled the globe for those at home who don’t have the same opportunity. (youtube.com/@SimonWilson12)
